I am excited to bring this new foodie experience to you guys! This week I’m sharing the details on a Las Vegas eatery called “Carson Kitchen”. Carson Kitchen is located off Carson & 6th near Freemont in Las Vegas, NV. Carson Kitchen is the first urban casual eatery located in the repurposed mid-century John E. Carson hotel created by restaurateur/chef Cory Harwell and chef Kerry Simon. The menu at Carson Kitchen offers social plates and diverse entrees ranging from cocoa-expresso NY strip (served ala carte) to flat breads and ala carte sides.
My husband, my son Josiah, and I visited Carson Kitchen eager to try their menu offerings. It took us a minute to actually figure out how to get into the restaurant but, once we did we were greeted by friendly staff and an urban adult centered ambience.
-Note- While you can easily find “kid friendly” items on the menu, Carson Kitchen does not have a kids menu nor do they have children’s booster seats. The seats also do not have backs to them.
Our Food
For our appetizer, we ordered the crispy chicken skins with smoked honey, veal meatballs with sherry foie gras cream, and two orders of gyro tacos with lamb, tzatziki, feta, and tomato. I was a fan of the crispy chicken skins; actually as I write this I’m wishing I had some. I ordered the veal meatballs with baked mac n cheese for Josiah, however, he was not a fan of the meatballs, neither was his dad. Josiah did however love the baked mac n cheese. Our favorite appetizer were the gyro tacos. I love gyros and I love tacos, so of course, when you put those two powerhouses together my taste buds explode. For our entrees L.J order the boar sloppy joe with crispy fennel, orange aioli and spicy tator tots. He loved the boar sloppy joe. I ordered the jerk turkey burger with mango chutney slaw. The jerk turkey burger was amazing. It was packed with flavor. Ground turkey is tricky to get right because of how aggressively you have to season it. I was skeptical about my decision initially because jerk seasoning is hard to get right as well but it was the perfect blend of spice and sweetness with the mango chutney slaw. The patty was also massive.
For dessert we ordered a glazed donut bread pudding with three rum caramel, vanilla crème anglaise. It was sooooo good. It wasn’t overly sweet which allowed us to want more.
Was it worth it + Did it break the bank
We were afforded the opportunity to be gifted with this experience at Carson Kitchen so we didn’t really have to come out of pocket. Our tab was $115.53 for our entire meal. I would say it was totally worth it. Our least favorite part of the meal were the veal meatballs, but they were still good. Our favorite parts of the meal were our gyro tacos, the entrees, and our doughnut bread pudding dessert. I would highly recommend Carson Kitchen to anyone visiting Vegas and to anyone who stays in Vegas.
As always, thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed it!
