30 Days of Spin Week One Check-In

It’s been seven days of non-stop spinning and I feel… great!

Day One through Three, sucked if I’m being honest. I think it had a lot to do with my mindset at first. I went into the first couple of days with the mindset of “let’s get this over with”, and “let me make sure I document every ride for social media”, which meant breaking my stride to grab my phone so that I could get a shot. As the week progressed I decided to put the camera on time-lapse, set the phone up, and focus on the ride.

I realized that while documenting this challenge is important because it helps to keep me accountable, getting the most out of each ride is just as if not more important.

Day Four and Five were better. My legs were a little sore, but it wasn’t anything too serious. Throughout the week I did at least one class, and maybe a freestyle ride. The goal is to spin 40 minutes per day at a minimum. What I’ve found is that doing a class not only makes time go by a little faster but the classes also challenge me more than simply riding to my own music.

Day Six and Seven (the weekend) I chose to freestyle my rides, to give my body a chance to rest. On Day Six, I rode 29 minutes and on Day Seven I rode 50 minutes.

I did not hit my 40-minute goal every single day, and I am okay with that. I take satisfaction in the fact that I did not quit and that I made it through the first seven days. I would rather ease into the challenge than hurt myself by over-exerting at the beginning.

Head to my Instagram to catch on each ride!

As always, thank you for reading. I’ll see you in the next blog.
