Draw It Out

When I clicked on this sermon, and decided to use it for this weeks sermon notes I had no idea why. Then Sarah Jakes Roberts began to speak about how we are given grace to extend grace and how we are blessed to be a blessing. She began to talk about how God brings us through things so that we can give testimony and change someone else’s life who may be headed down the same road that God delivered us form.

When I heard that, one word popped in my head: Purpose

Often times I sit and ask God what is my purpose? Why am I doing the things I am doing? What is the point of all this?

This sermon answers those questions.

John 2:1-10 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”

4 “Woman, why do you involve me?”Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”

5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.

7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.

8Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”

They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

God has a way of drawing things out of us.

It’s not always comfortable, but when we look back we recognize that had it not been drawn out we would’ve never realized what was in us.
In the text we see the fullness of who Jesus has been called to be, being drawn out of him.
Jesus goes from being a miracle to performing miracles
Everyone wants a miracle, but no one realizes by receiving a miracle we have a responsibility to then perpetuate those miracles.
We are blessed to be a blessing
Kingdom says we need a miracle so we can be a blessing.
God wants our lives to be a monument of his Glory and Grace.
When you are trying to figure out what to reproduce in this earth, start with what God has already planted down on the inside of you.
If you want power, authority, or passion you can’t look to the world for it, you have to look to God for it.
You can still be dope and love God.
Who wants to break the norms of what it means to be traditional in church, and go out into the world say “Yes I love God”, “Yes I’m still fly”, Yes I will cast out a devil”, “Yes I will make demons tremble”, “Yes I will still kick it and not judge you and still love you because that’s what he’s done for me”
You can’t produce miracles if you are connected to toxicity.
When we find Jesus in the text he is fully aware of who he is but he has not activated that onto the earth in a way that exposes who he is.
He is waiting on a need that is worthy of his power so that his anointing can be exposed.
Jesus is about to go from being of the heavens on earth to establishing the heavens on earth.
God has to create the need to release your power.
When you stay ready you don’t have to get ready.
You can do this thing for the Kingdom and still bust the doors open in the culture.
God is not a man that he should lie
Jesus is going to do the miracle with what you already have and with the resource that never runs dry.
They ran out of wine because wine is not something that can be easily replaced, it can only be produced in seasons. Jesus uses wine because he wanted to defy human knowledge and he wanted to use what they already had.
The servants knew there was no wine but filled the water pots with water anyway. They were drawing from water.
If you draw from water God will turn it into wine.
If we keep drawing he will turn it into a miracle
