Making Time for Jesus

Do you know what’s amusing to me?

The notion that we, who would not have air in our lungs without God breathing life into them, really have the audacity to sometimes say “I need to make time for God” or “I’m having a hard time making time for God”, is absolutely absurd to me. How could we think that this frame of mind and thought process is in the least bit okay?

Since committing to my 2019 Bible Plan I’ve had to “make time” each day to get my Bible reading and Devotional done.

But here’s the thing, I didn’t have to make time to binge watch season one of The Resident (which is an amazing show by the way) in one day, or The Umbrella Academy in two days; I literally just plopped down in front of the television and spent hours on end watching something that wasn’t edifying my soul, giving me any real knowledge other than taking cues on filming cinematically, or putting money in my bank account. I wasted time while “making time” to binge watch.

Why can’t we “keep that same energy for God”?

I would argue that “making time for God” is an excuse we use to not get in his presence the way we should and read his word the way we should. We would have no time at all without God’s hand on our lives. My goal effective immediately as I write this blog is to “make time for God” just like I make time for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, binge watching, listening to music, eating, sleeping, and creating content; because at the end of the day without God I would not be here today and I will not and can not make it into tomorrow, and wouldn’t be able to do any of those things.

Gone is my excuse of “oh I didn’t get up early enough to do my readings” now I’m three days behind and playing catch up, or my excuse of I woke up too late to get my reading done. I'm going to “find time” by eliminating things that are not edifying to my spirit man to feed my soul with the word and knowledge of God and I challenge you to do the same.

As always thanks for reading , and thank you for being on this journey with me.
