I chose this sermon taught by Sarah Jakes Roberts this week because I’ve had a hard few weeks mentally. When I listened to this sermon I was reminded that God never gives me more than I can bare and that everything I am facing is preparing me for something greater. I learned that with growth comes a level of discomfort that is needed in order for God's plan to come into fruition.
Genesis 11:1-9 NIV “Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there. They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel —because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.”
God would not have allowed you to survive the flood unless he knew you could rebuild again.
The enemy doesn't care about the flood, he cares about your mentality after the flood.
There is life after the flood, hope after heartbreak, strength after weakness.
What is your mentality?
When you begin to produce, the place that use to be able to hold you can't hold you anymore.
You can only figure out who you are when God ordains beautiful chaos to take place in your life.
You go from what can I get? to who can I become?
When God has commanded something to come out of you he will use anything necessary to get it out.
Sometimes the only way you can grow is if you're scattered.
Every time there is a flood there will be a temptation to stay in a place that is too small for who you are.
Shinar is the place where you don't have to stress yourself or actually manifest ideas.
You can't build in a place that doesn't require faith.
You have to leave what you know to find who you are.
Be willing to allow beautiful chaos in your life to show you who you are.
Having to rebuild with the memory of the flood is hard. Do it anyway.
You can't build something for the heavens without realizing God already has a plan.
When you build up instead of out you don't have the roots to withstand the thing you were trying to build.
God will orchestrate chaos so you know how to fight.
There are moments when God orchestrates chaos to push us out of our comfort zone.
Chaos can't kill you.
When we see death and chaos God sees resurrection.
God made chaos a servant.
When it's all said and done what we call chaos God calls beautiful.
Look at who you are becoming as a result of the chaos.
